HTML and Code design insider tricks

The secret of designing for different screensizes.

The biggest problem when designing web pages is not appreciating how they will look in different sizes of screen display (resolution).    The choice of resolution is determined by the monitors and the users themselves and can not be mandated.  Therefore it is very useful to determine how pages will look in the most popular configurations such as 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 and 1152 x 864.

The screen size display graphic provided can be very useful when it is set as a background to the design windows of the web pages.  Setting this up as a "Wallpaper" enables it to be displayed as a backdrop assigned to the desktop.  Simple display and resize windows to suit against the desktop image.

Windows Users (Windows 95, 98 and NT):

After the image has completely loaded:

  1. Download image
  2. Extract image into the C: drive root directory
  3. Open up the image file (if associated with IE it will open in that application)
  4. Place mouse cursor over the displayed image
  5. Right click mouse button
  6. From the pop-up menu, select  "set as wallpaper" and click
  7. The wallpaper should appear as the new desktop.

Note: This may require a screen refresh which can be done by right-clicking an empty area of your Windows desktop and selecting "refresh" from the pop-up menu.
